The MIF is an operational meeting point for entrepreneurs and innovative companies whose components comprise the entrepreneurial and innovation environment of Malaga and its surrounding areas. This set of components includes public and private institutions, as well as investors and initiatives specifically geared at providing services to start-ups, such as incubators, accelerators, co-working spaces, mentors, knowledge managers and others.
The MIF's strategy can be summed up in just two words: JOIN FORCES. We feel that the innovation ecosystem can only evolve if it is optimized based on the entire process; that is to say, if it includes both entrepreneurs and innovative companies.
All the actions and activities that can be promoted by the MIF have a single aim in mind: boosting the creation of innovative companies and consolidating their business models. In order to achieve this, institutions play an essential role in the collaborative context put forward by the MIF.
The MIF sets an annual schedule for three kinds of meetings: Forums, Companies and Workshops. Forum meetings are usually held twice a month and deal with monitoring activities and decision-making by all the members. MIF Company meetings are aimed at receiving and managing ideas and initiatives put forward by entrepreneurs, start-ups and companies. Workshops are for work groups comprised of MIF members on a voluntary basis. The frequency with which the latter two kinds of meeting are held depends on the needs and the deadlines set.
In addition, the MIF is equipped with an intranet working environment at digitalmalaga.com, where registered users (MIF members) can collaborate to make progress on any workshops and initiatives that have been broached.
The person who has put forward an initiative or activity which has been considered as part of the MIF's agenda is designated as the initiative's leader and his/her group of collaborators is put together on the basis of the interest MIF members show. It can always rely on the support and monitoring of the Forum's coordinators. Furthermore, the MIF can support actions and initiatives that have already been initiated if they make a contribution to the Forum's mission.
If Malaga had an innovation ecosystem which worked to the benefit of its start-ups and entrepreneurs, what would it be like? Answering this question is the main challenge faced by the MIF.
Can Malaga's organizations and institutions, which follow different political guidelines and have opposing aims, collaborate jointly to the benefit of the innovation ecosystem? We have set up the MIF to make it possible. We believe that the answer can be yes if we are able to count on the willingness and drive of companies and entrepreneurs.
Can Malaga differentiate itself as an important place for investors in the digital economy and innovative projects? The MIF feels that Malaga has the necessary means and resources for this to be the case. That is why investors are a key target group, so that the most significant funds and business angels can come to form part of the MIF.
Is it possible to guide people who are about to set up a business by prioritizing the interests of entrepreneurs? The MIF aims to bring together all the ecosystem's resources distributed among its members and bring about a collaborative environment full of synergies which includes all its components. Thus, the broad range of incubators, accelerators, co-working spaces and investor groups that get involved in the projects' development can share in actions that turn out to be the very best options for entrepreneurs.
Can we convey and show that the companies and professionals that work in Malaga comply with best practices and are able to carry out very complex, high-tech projects? The MIF brings together the main players that can provide the best answer to this question. It is not by chance that the innovation ecosystem also includes the development and consolidation of innovative companies.

In keeping with the background of MIF members, if you are a start-up or have a project you want to turn into a company, if you are already an innovative company, if you are a networker that manages groups dealing with innovation in Malaga, or if you are an entrepreneurial agent, an investor, a company or an institution involved in incubation, acceleration, internationalization or work space management, we would like you to take part in the MIF with us.
There are many entrepreneurial initiatives in Malaga, but the MIF aims to differentiate them by their practical operational concerns. Have a Forum available to optimize the ecosystem based on the real experiences of people who have gone into business, who are currently setting up a business and who are about to do so. Have a joint negotiating table with institutions and private agents backed by a General Action Protocol which allows goals that improve our ecosystem to be reached. Joining forces is possible if all parties are willing. In order to do so, the presence of companies and entrepreneurs is crucial, since they are this initiative's main driving force.
